‘Several Interventions’ examines the liminality and objecthood within spaces like the waiting room, through a multidisciplinary utilisation of documentary photography, painting and ready-mades. Contrary to the waiting room being commonly identified as a ‘non-place’, the interventions attempt to reconcile the materiality of the space by reassessing the presence and designed form of its ubiquitous objects: the chairs and the pot-plant. As enduring and concrete spaces, the logistical systems, bureaucratic subtext and clinical design that underlie their organisation are made apparent to reveal the very particularity of their presence; one that oscillates between the uniform and the unique, the alienating and the emancipatory.
