We're currently taking exhibition proposals for 2021
Calling all artists and curators! The Waiting Room Project is seeking exhibition proposals from emerging artists and curators, for exhibitions throughout the second half of 2019.
The Waiting Room Project is a liminal space, offered by the Sydney Sexual Health Centre (SSHC) to artists for free. We are especially interested in artists and curators who are responsive to this non-white cube space and the experience of the SSHC clients occupying this transient waiting room.
As this project is somewhat unconventional and experimental, we encourage artists and curators to experiment with their own practice. This is a great opportunity to test out new works and gain exhibition and curation experience for free.
Submissions close 30 November 2020, 11:59pm AEST.
THE WAITING ROOM WRITERS PROJECT
We're currently taking expressions of interest for our new Writer's Project!
Writers are invited to email examples of past or new textual work to the Waiting Room Writers Project. The writers will be selected based on the exhibition program for the year and whether their writing interests align with this program.
If selected we will work together in pairing you with an exhibition. Once paired you will be in contact with the artist, group or curator to gain insight into their practice and artwork for their exhibition.
You will then respond to their practice or the themes of their work, with your own textual work. All forms are accepted, from spoken word, poems, creative writing, experimental textual art, and exhibition essays.
The presentation of your writing is up to you! We can simply print it on A4 paper for the opening, or you can do a speech on the night. It's all about what works best for your medium and text.
Submissions close 7th May 2019.
