Exhibition Proposal

We're currently taking exhibition proposals for 2021

~ SUBMISSION DEADLINE EXTENDED TO 11 DECEMBER 2020, 11:59PM AEST ~

Calling for artists to apply for our 2021 exhibition program! We are currently looking for emerging artists to propose an idea or a show that would fit in the The Waiting Room.

The Waiting Room Project is an art space located within the Sydney Sexual Health Centre (SSHC), aimed at diminishing the feelings of anxieties that may exist within a clinical waiting room.

We encourage submitting experimental ideas that are critically considered for the non-white cube space of The Waiting Room. This is a great opportunity to experiment unrealised and unconvention artistic ideas!

Submission Deadline: 30 November 2020, 11:59pm AEST

*The Waiting Room Project is a fee-free exhibition space.
Please keep in mind that the space is first and foremost a medical and health space, and the wellbeing of SSHC patients is central. The themes proposed should be suitable for the space.

If you prefer verbal or alternate forms of proposal there will be an option on the application form for that, or you can email us @ thewaitingroomproj@gmail.com.

SUPPORT PROGRAM

~ SUBMISSION DEADLINE EXTENDED TO 11 DECEMBER 2020, 11:59PM AEST ~

We are taking applications for artists to participate in The Waiting Room 2021 Support Program!

It is our belief that all art practices are valid and that all artists deserve the right to exhibit with agency, although this right is often suppressed. Hence, as well as fostering experimental ideas and bringing artists into the waiting room through our general artist callout, we are committed to assisting those with extensive enough art background/practices to exhibit in either a solo show or participation in a group show but who feel as though they would benefit from more support.

If chosen, the artist will be programmed for an exhibition during the second half of 2021. The program entails mentoring and workshopping from the curators, and artist networking opportunities, months prior to the exhibition.

Pertinent backgrounds may include those who are: without formal training, from diverse cultural backgrounds, are neurodiverse, have arts practices built around coping mechanisms, feel as though their narrative is unsupported by the art world or simply those who would appreciate extra assistance in developing material for an exhibition.
